  Healing Between Two Worlds

Join us in celebrating a remarkable community and their inspiring stories of courage, resilience, and hope. Healing Between Two Worlds will be presented on Sunday, May 3rd, 4:00 PM at the West Newton Cinema by the South Sudanese Enrichment for Families. Hosted by Reverend Liz Walker, author of No One Left Alone: A Story of How Community Helps Us Heal

This event will begin with a screening of the short documentary Between Two Worlds, a South Sudanese Enrichment for Families (SSEF) film.

After the screening, members of this community will join Reverend Walker, in a discussion about steps we can all take to collective healing. Drawing on her humanitarian work in South Sudan and in counseling community members through hardship, Reverend Walker will lead us through what it takes to access the resources we have within us to survive the unthinkable.

A reception and signing of Reverend Walker's No One Left Alone will follow in the cinema lobby.

Legacy Fund Campaign

After more than two decades at the helm, Susan Winship is stepping down as the Executive Director of South Sudanese Enrichment for Families in June 2026.

Recognizing the SSEF’s great contribution to the community, the board sees it imperative to establish a Legacy Fund to honor this transition.

The Legacy Fund honors many years of Susan’s visionary leadership. At helm, the organization supported many Lost Boys and Girls of Sudan and their families. Susan has rallied a coalition of goodwill through private donations and foundations - millions of dollars have been raised and spent on critical programs such as Continuing Education, Preschool, Summer Enrichment, College Tuition, Drivers Education, Financial Literacy, and Emergency Funding for the most vulnerable members of the community. These are lifechanging opportunities for the South Sudanese community. Susan’s stepping down after this incredible success begins an important milestone for the organization.

Another great milestone is the organization transitioning to South Sudanese leadership.

This is yet another important legacy to honor. The Legacy Fund will support this transition and allow the incoming director to focus on learning the ropes and to implement organization’s strategy focusing on the second generation.

We are grateful to disclose that a generous donor has given SSEF $500,000.00 challenge grant. We hope we can count on you during this important journey. The Legacy Fund will run from February 15- December 31, 2026.
